Hitachi has partnered with Toshiba to develop a new type of TFT-LCD display technology — called “System-on-Glass” — that is compatible with light emitting pens. It’s currently being showcased at the “Display Expo 2006” in Japan. Both companies hope to have a fully functional prototype by year end.

The pen needs a power source to emit the light though, users will [not] need to worry about the battery usage condition for the pen.
