Hubble Planetary Nebula NGC 6751 Cosmic Eye
NASA / ESA’s Hubble Space Telescope captured planetary nebula NGC 6751 and it eerily resembles a cosmic eye. Located about 6,500 light-years away in the constellation Aquila, this planetary nebula doesn’t actually have anything to do with planets, as the name was given to them by astronomers using early telescopes when they stumbled upon indistinct, cloudy forms in the night sky.

In the image above, we can see a bright white star at the center that is surrounded by a ring of glowing material, resembling an eye of sorts. This glowing material is blue and pinkish, while an orange ring can be observed around it. On second glance, there are a few dots in the black background of space, which are distant stars.

With Hubble’s clear vision, intricate details of this nebula are revealed. NGC 6751 formed when a cloud of gas ejected several thousand years ago from the hot star visible in its center, and the star’s surface temperature is estimated to be 250,000 degrees Fahrenheit (140,000 degrees Celsius)!,” said the NASA Hubble Mission Team.
