Modern laptops attempt to balance portability with productivity, and Lenovo, along with Intel, have unveiled a device that redefines the game. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, hitting shelves on June 19, 2025, introduces the world’s first expandable laptop screen.
Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus series has always pushed the envelope, evolving from E-ink covers to detachable Android tablets. Now, the Gen 6 Rollable takes over the reigns with its 14-inch OLED display that expands to 16.7 inches at the press of a button or a flick of the wrist. “As a laptop user, some days you just want more screen space to get more done efficiently,” notes Zheng Jiong, Intel’s senior director of Customer Engineering in China. The rollable screen, developed through a two-year collaboration in Lenovo’s Shanghai R&D lab, adds nearly 50% more display area. Rated for 20,000 rolls, the mechanism is built to last, thanks to tiny motors hidden inside its 19.9mm-thin chassis.

Powering this innovation is Intel’s Core Ultra 7 processor, paired with up to 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. The laptop integrates Microsoft Copilot+ and Lenovo’s AI Now, a personalized AI agent that taps into local large language models for offline productivity. “We listen to what customers are looking for, feedback on what can improve, and match up what features already exist with what future technology we can create,” Jiong explains.
Connectivity is another strong suit. Featuring two Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Durability is no afterthought either—the hinge withstands 30,000 open-and-close cycles, ensuring this laptop can handle the daily grind. There’s just one major downside and that is its $3,499 price tag.
