Motorola Edge 70 Smartphone
Take the Motorola Edge 70 out of its recycled-cardboard box and your fingers will notice first: 159 grams of phone that feels like a credit card in a nylon sweater. At 5.99 mm thick, this handset slips into a shirt pocket without a ripple, yet an aircraft-grade aluminum spine runs its length, ready to shrug off drops that would crumple lesser frames. Bronze Green, Lily Pad, or Gadget Grey—each color carries Pantone’s seal of approval for true-to-life color, while a subtle weave on the back keeps fingerprints at bay and adds grip no glass slab can match.

Flip it over and a 6.7-inch p-OLED greets you with 1220 × 2712 pixels packed in so tight that text looks printed. Colors pop under HDR10+, skin tones are true-to-life, and 4,500 nits of peak brightness turns noon glare into a non-issue. Swipe up and the 120 Hz refresh keeps every scroll buttery, while an optical fingerprint reader—placed just high enough for one-handed reach—unlocks in a blink.

Power comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of storage in the only configuration. Open a dozen apps, edit 4K clips or let Moto AI turn your last selfie into studio lighting; the chip never breaks a sweat. Android 16 runs clean, with Motorola’s light customizations—peek notifications on the always-on display, circle anything on screen for instant search or let “Catch Me Up” condense a morning’s worth of messages into three lines.

Cameras rarely get you excited at seven hundred bucks, but three 50-megapixel sensors live here. The main lens uses optical stabilization and a dedicated light meter to pull clean shots from dim bars. Switch to the 120-degree ultrawide and the same sensor is a macro lens for dew-on-petals close-ups. Selfies come from another 50-megapixel eye that won’t flatten faces or bleach complexions. Night mode balances neon signs and shadows without turning everything into soup, and 4K video rolls at 30 frames per second.

When it comes to phones this thin, battery stories typically end in compromise, but Motorola chose a different approach. That’s because this device has a 4,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is more efficient than the lithium-based batteries seen in much more expensive smartphones. As a result, you may watch videos for 29 hours straight or browse on your phone for 50 hours. Alternatively, use the provided 68 W TurboCharge adapter to get 50% of the charge back in just 15 minutes. There’s even the option to fast charge wirelessly with a 15W boost, and the supplied magnetic phone case clamps on without bulking up the phone at all.

Durability is one of the phone’s strongest points. The IP68 and IP69 classifications withstand being submerged in water for up to 1.5 meters for half an hour, and the MIL-STD-810H certification allows for exposure to frigid temperatures at high altitudes, scorching highs in the desert, and as much salty sea air as you like. Not to mention the high-quality Gorilla Glass 7i, which protects both the front and back. However, replacing the screen will cost an additional pound.

Motorola also promises to keep your phone up to date for the foreseeable future: they will continue to send out the latest four major Android updates and bi-monthly security fixes through July 2031. Furthermore, they plan to add new AI features, wallpapers, and improved battery suggestions every few months, keeping your phone on the cutting edge even after the early adopters have abandoned it and moved on to something else.

So, what does it cost? The price in the UK is £699, whereas in Europe it is €799. You can start pre-ordering today, and if you can’t wait for shipping, you can get one in-person from Currys. The packaging includes a magnetic phone case and a 68W TurboCharge adapter to help you get started; no additional accessories are required.
