Gareth Clear, a 36-year-old cyclist from Bondi Beach, New South Wales, Australia, has experienced riding injuries before, but the last thing he expected while mountain biking was a severe burn from an exploding phone. It all started when he was riding around Manly Dam on Sunday afternoon when he fell from his bike, landing on his iPhone 6. Just seconds later, smoke and searing heat caught his attention before hearing an explosion as the phone ignited, melting through his shorts and two layers of skin on his upper right thigh. Powered Exoskeleton

Revision Military’s innovative powered exoskeleton turns you into a super soldier, thanks to technology that eases the strain on the human body carrying heavy loads for extended periods. One component, the “Prowler,” is essentially a Human Augmentation System (HAS), or an exoskeleton that straps to the lower extremities of soldiers and aids in human function (i.e. walking, climbing, etc.) for up to 6-hours. “The opportunity for an integrated power management system that provides flexible storage and power management that can be easily adapted to a wide range of mission scenarios is extensive,” said Revision Military CEO Jonathan Blanshay. Evolution Design reveals Flexhouse, a whimsical home with expansive 180° views of Lake Zurich in Switzerland, and the surrounding foliage. At over 1,800-square-feet, the three-level home features a luxurious living room, dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms, a studio, and two large terraces. On the tech side of things, you’ll find thermally-activated concrete floors that can be temperature-controlled via geothermal heat pumps. Continue reading for more pictures.

Ice Charger Fast 8

Vin Diesel’s character, Dom, has a thing for Dodge Chargers, and in Fast 8, this is definitely the case. Officially called the “Ice Charger,” this beastly muscle car is powered by a monstrous-sounding engine up in the front, but what really stands out is an unknown power source out back, almost like something Back to the Future’s Doc Brown would install on a vehicle – like a Flux Capacitor. Space Mountain Lights On

For those who don’t know, Space Mountain is basically a space-themed indoor steel roller coaster in Tomorrowland at Disneyland in California. It first opened on May 27, 1977, and was the second roller coaster built at Disneyland – the second of the five versions of Space Mountain built by The Walt Disney Company. In addition to being transformed into Ghost Galaxy for Halloween, sometimes visitors are treated to a lights-on version of the ride, as the video and images above show. Backyard Roller Coaster

Paul Gregg from Seattle, a retired engineer who worked for Boeing in research and development, used the skills he acquired with new structural concepts for aerospace to roller coasters. “I saw a couple of people who tried [making backyard roller coasters] online and I thought I could do it a lot better, so things got out of control. I did all the physics and…a whole bunch of engineering stuff. I documented it with PowerPoint charts, so I have about 150 pages of information. I don’t know why. I’m just used to documenting, so whenever I did a test or some analysis or a new design I documented it in that way” said Gregg. Currently, he’s built three: the original coaster, a larger coaster, and a small coaster called the Little Rocket for kids.
