Japanese designers Masakazu Shirane and Saya Miyazaki unveiled Wink Space at the annual Kobe Biennale exhibition. It’s not a computer-generated illusion, but rather a mind-bending and trippy installation that resembles a giant kaleidoscope, constructed with mirrors that formed a multi-faceted, reflective surface inside the shipping container. The designers folded one giant mirror sheet like origami, then connected the 1,100 triangular panels with zippers to create this prism-like, modular installation. Japan-based artist Azuma Makoto launched his work into space to show that beauty can exist anywhere. Makoto partnered with JP Aerospace to make project “Exobiotanica” a reality. The first item he sent was a bouquet of colorful flowers sourced from around the world, and the other, a 50-year-old bonsai pine tree specially shipped from his private collection in Japan. They were launched at Black Rock Desert outside Gerlach, Nevada, where the Burning Man Festival is held annually. Continue reading for more.

No, this isn’t a computer-generated image, but rather a real tree house in British Columbia, Canada. On a related note, did you know that Winston Churchill actually constructed a 20-foot tree house in a lime tree at his Chartwell Manor home. Famous tree house celebrities don’t end there, as John Lennon was rumored to have a tree house overlooking the Strawberry Fields orphanage. Continue reading for more.

There’s nothing funny about OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), but there are everyday things most would consider normal that would drive one with the anxiety disorder crazy. For example, having construction workers not put back a sewer lid the right way, causing the forward pointing arrow to be slightly off. Continue reading for more funny and weird examples.

It’s rare for children and teenagers to think of their parents as *cool*, but these examples show why some are always young at heart. Starting off, we have someone who asked for an iPad for their birthday, and instead, received an authentic iPad box filled with a box of eye pads and a troll face. Other examples include: a surprise $5-million birthday present, curious parents during a birthday, and replicating a Facebook profile picture. Continue reading to see them all.

Rather than disassemble these old computers and use their parts for art, this geek decided to create a colorful wall of sorts. Sure, this may not be practical or sightly with the lights on, but it’s definitely a conversation starter nonetheless. Click here to view the first image in today’s viral picture gallery. We have seen the future of ice cream, and it’s probably going to come in all shapes, thanks to 3D printing. MIT students Kyle Hounsell, Kristine Bunker and David Donghyun Kim have created a prototype 3D printer that can make extremely soft serve ice cream in various shapes. According to the trio, “First, we needed to print into a cooled environment so that the ice cream would hold its shape once printed. We bought a small upright freezer which was large enough to both put the Solidoodle inside and allow for the full build volume we were aiming for.” Continue reading for a video and more information.

You’d think cheating death once in a lifetime is a feat never to be repeated, but Dutch cyclist Maarten de Jonge managed to do it twice. He was supposed to fly on both MH370 and MH17, which was shot down over Ukraine on Thursday. The reasons? Well, in March, his cycling team was scheduled to take flight MH370 departing from Kuala Lumpur to compete in a race in Taiwan, but switched to another flight at the last minute to avoid having a stopover. Earlier this week, de Jonge planned to take flight MH17 to return to Kuala Lumpur from a recent race in the Netherlands, but changed his flight for a later one this weekend, yet again, at the last minute. Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first humans on the Moon, Americans Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on July 20, 1969, at 20:18 UTC. Armstrong became the first to step onto the lunar surface six hours later on July 21 at 02:56 UTC. Armstrong spent about two and a half hours outside the spacecraft, Aldrin slightly less, and together they collected 47.5 pounds (21.5 kg) of lunar material for return to Earth.
