Robot Era’s STAR1 may not be the first humanoid robot, but it’s most certainly no slouch when compared to Tesla’s Optimus and Boston Dynamics’ Atlas. Standing 5.6-feet-tall and weighing 143-pounds, STAR1 took quite a bit of engineering to get it walking and running smoothly.
Thanks to 400-Nm (295-lb.ft) motors with “precision planetary reducers, high-precision encoders, high-speed communication modules, and AI computing at up to 275 tops, it was able to run at a brisk 8mph for 34 minutes. There’s no word yet on if we’ll see a home version of STAR1, but if there were to be one, expect a $100,000+ USD price tag.
