Robotic Chair

Called Take a Seat, this robotic chair actually follows you around. Basically, “the user has a library card embedded with an RFID chip, which the chairs use to find and follow their target.” Video after the break. Click here for one more picture.

It was designed by Dutch designer Jelte van Geest for Openbare Bibliotheek Endhoven, a library design project. He wanted to make robots friendly and soft rather than mean and cold, like the Terminator robots we’re used to seeing in movies and such.
