Space Advertising StartRocket Satellites 2023
Capturing the world’s first 4K satellite selfie is one thing, space advertising is another that may soon take off as early as 2023. There is already one startup working on a solution and their method would be similar skytyping, only in low-Earth orbit rather than in the atmosphere. This means the advertisements would only be visible only at night, but could be seen from anywhere in the world.

Each ad would be made up of an array of tiny satellites, each equipped with a reflective sail measuring about 30 feet in diameter. When these “cubesats” orbit at an altitude of about 280 miles, sunlight would then reflect off their sails to form visible words or logos that can be seen from the ground below. StartRocket was working on a prototype cubesat a few years ago, and their initial tests of space-based advertising were put on hold. CEO Vlad Sitnikov has not yet decided on what rocket would deliver the satellites into orbit or how much it would charge clients to advertise.
