You’ve seen 3D-printed roller coasters, now check out Shadow Stalker, a functional roller coaster built in 17-year-old Sammy Trechak’s backyard in East Brunswick, New Jersey, USA. This 102-foot-long roller coaster has a 10-foot drop and can each speeds of up to 20 mph, with a single train that can seat one row of two passengers.

The ride actually opened to the public on May 13th, but unfortunately, as of July 6th, was shut down by the city. Trechak states that the city has ‘taken initiative to make sure this thing is taken down immediately instead of solving real town issues.’ On the bright side, there are already plans to build other personalized backyard roller coasters for clients as well as enthusiasts.

I actually did my very very first one when I was in fifth grade. And then my dad had mentioned, all right, it’s time to build a new one, “said Trechak.
