There’s Boston Dynamics’ Spot, and then the Thermonator by Xmatter / Throwflame. At 37-pounds, this robot dog comes equipped with Throwflame’s ARC Flamethrower, which is crafted from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in matte black. The latter uses a custom battery pack loaded with Tesla-style 18650 Li-ion cells.
This robot is able to shoot the ARC Flamethrower from up to 350-feet away and can be used for over 45-minutes continuously on a single charge. Does the robot dog look familiar? If so, that’s because it’s based on the Unitree GO1. Featuring four legs with 12-degrees of freedom that enable it to easily traverse rugged terrain, climb steps, and even avoid obstacles. The company is currently accepting pre-orders for the first batch shipping in Q3 2023, but pricing has not yet been revealed. Just for reference, the ARC Flamethrower costs $699 USD and the Unitree GO1 will set you back between $2,700 – $3,500 depending on the model.
