Spanning 26.4-miles long (according to Wikipedia) and built at a cost of $2.3-billion, “the Qingdao Haiwan Bridge was built to cut the traveling time between Qingdao City and its Huangdao district from 40 minutes to 20.” Video after the break.

Interestingly enough, China’s official news agency, the Xinhua reports that the bridge is 36.48 kilometers, which would put it at about 22.66 miles long, and well under Lake Pontchartrain’s record.
