Sleek and futuristic, Yamaha’s shape-shifting MOTOROiD2 motorcycle looks to be straight from a sci-fi movie. MOTOROiD2 is touted as a vehicle for personal mobility that can recognize its owner, get up off its kickstand, and move alongside its rider, as well as detect when somebody is riding on its back, giving it a presence more like a lifetime companion.
This followup to the original MOTOROiD unveiled in 2017, this model features an Active Mass Center Control System (AMCES) for attitude sensing and self-balancing. An image recognition AI system can automatically detect and react to the owner’s face, while gestures have both been further refined. Its new Leaf structure gives this model a chassis specialized for lifelike and complementary reactions to the rider.

What will human–machine interfaces actually be like in the future? This experimental model melds mobility with intelligent technologies in order to study that question. Yamaha Motor hypothesized that achieving a closer relationship between rider and machine in which they resonate harmoniously with each other like partners would lead to new forms of Jin-Ki Kanno,” said the company.
