Inventor Daniel Dingel claims to have built a functional water-powered car "as early as 1969" -- the above project is one of his latest creations.Video after the jump.
...engine has a chamber that breaks apart water molecules to produce combustible hydrogen. Electricity from a 12-volt car battery to used to split the water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen components, with the hydrogen then used to power the car engine

this is super. iam loveing this. but there is one question... how do you the amount of Hydrogen gas to full a 2.5 liter engine at 5000rpm cause that means it will use 12.500liter of air per min. if you drop the engine size back to lets say. 1.5liter and run it at 5000rpm you already end up at 7.500liter so that also uses lots of air. meaning more Hydrogen air to keep a constant fuel rate going also the burning temperature from Hydrogen is higher than normal octane95, octane98 or octane101 meaning Higher engeni temperature meaning more ware on the engine... this might work whit a wankel engine whitch has less friction. (and mazda already hase a Hydrogen wankel producing way less power than the normal fuel engine.) but still intresting to see this. beter than a Toyota prius thats for sure ;)

Like Pen and Tellers TV show, this is bull sh*tt.

If you control oil, you control the world economy. Gov't leaders are in denial of water powered cars. 3/4 of the earth contains water and huge oil company who invested billions of dollars will go down the drain with this technological breakthrough.

Uh Jasper, I'm not sure how you calculated that, a 2.5 @ 2500 will draw WAY more air then 12.5L/m. Way way more, did you factor any compression at all or did you just assume the displacment size of a piston ? What fuel ratio did you use ? You numbers are way off. Engines are just very large air compressors. But video is crap anway. Its been going on for ever with a bunch of different 'inventors'. Search wiki. Not one of them can actually prove it without a doubt. The true is, if it were possible to rapidly pull THAT much hydrogen from water then people would be doing it with all kinds of electrolisys. And water wouldn't be used anyway. It would be some solution with additives. Water + starch, water + suger, water + cow pies, who knows. The problem is the very idea of hydrolisys is slow, it could be faster, but you will add more power then you will recover. Its BS. Look at when this video was made, $1.35 for gas! Hell, I'd be HAPPY to pay that while this guy is lying about water.

This is fake. It is not logical that an farmer invent a car that runs on water but can not sell the invantion to any contry in the world. It not logical that H2O contains so much energy that you can run a 4 year old car for 1h.

@james. this is pure talking about total Airintake WHIT OUT COMPRESION. that only hapens when the piston is compressing. since he is injecting it into the IntakeManifolt. but than also like you say you need a massive power generator or heat source to make enough hydrogen but yeh its a fake. or good make belive;)

It only takes a normal person with an every day job to come up with a brand new invention. I think that its genuine, obviously he wont say how it technically works. Think about the time when petrol cars came out (the horseless carriage). Its true about the oil thing (control/money). The only problem is that the main car manufacturers already have patents, with fast and reliable cars, just the politics in the way.

the "farmer" who inveted this thing is a former scientist from NASA. do a search for "daniel dingel".

Just google around the internet and you'll find alot of watercar project that actually works. Take a look at that video ; http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3333992194168790800 An american also found a way to make an enormous amount of hydrogen with very low electricity current. Why do this guy would not had found the same? People tend to consider only proved scientist today, but you all have to consider that not all invention were made by school freaks... Just think about Einstein do some research before claiming Fake...

"So the government... has this car that runs on water, man. But they dont want us to know that, because then we would use all the water and there would be nothing left to drink but beer, and we all know beer, set us free." -Stephen Hyde That 70's show. see they knew what was up!

uhh hydrogen is the most flammable gas.. any spark could but that car up in flames. there's a reason why it's not out everywhere
14
That is just amazing, I hope it is true.
15
Actually this is true. He is a Filipino inventor and received several awards. It has been featured several times in different shows in here.

This is such bull$hit I can barely see straight. All this car is, at best, is an electric car. The energy required to electrolyze water CANNOT be less then that recovered when you burn it. Even if the recovery is perfect (which is impossible for any machine, although some come close) that would mean you are describing the equation: 2 H2O + battery --> 2 H2 + O2 ---> 2 H2O + energy remove the water from both sides (products cancel out reactants) and you get battery --> 2 H2 + O2 ---> energy Battery = energy. Whee that is so new. There are already battery powered cars out there. Ever notice how these kooky inventions are never patented or commercialized - always by some poor (usually uneducated) schmuck who spends their life trying to get people to listen. You people are fools for believing this.

[...] So you’ve seen the water-powered car and dune buggy, now check out this motorcycle. Steve Ryan claims to have “devised a method of using water used as fuel directly, in contrast to using water as a source of Hydrogen, which then serves as the combustable fuel.” Video after the jump. What are your thoughts? The inventor frequently emphasizes that his invention is ” . . . a water-based fuel ” (rather than the conventional electrolysis inferred on the web site). He also talks of the “entrainment” of hydrogen in the water. The bike was then started and filmed being ridden up to 50 mph on the highway, and at lesser speed around a commercial courtyard. According to the inventor, the carburettor had been only slightly modified. This was confirmed by a mechanic in the documentary [...]
