That's right, a 30GB iPod recently sold for a whopping $1,525 on eBay. No, the screen isn't lined with diamonds or gems, it's just a normal iPod, or so we think. Auction page.
This iPod is brand new, the box has been opened but the iPod has not been unwrapped from the plastic or turned on, and all accessories are included and unopened. This is a brand new iPod Video 30GB (not refurbished or second)

[...] Picking up the story from TechEBlog, I decided to have a look at the Auction Page. The winning bidder is leah0811. This Brit has a good positive feedback score of  92.6%. Nothing out of the oridnary you may say but if you look at the feedback history there is activity till December 2006 with good positive feedback. There is no activity or feedback in the month of Januray 2007 but by Febuary there is a lot of activity and feedback, all of which are negative. [...]

There's a lot of this fake bidding now that ebay has made many auctions anonymous. Just another example of the way they rig the system to maximise their profits while screwing the buyers and sellers. They refuse to take any responsibility for anything that happens on their web site. I've requested they address this, along with policing bogus posts from "churners and burners" ("I got this camera for Xmas" - along with 17 exact duplicates...) and they don't even respond. One of these days they'll piss off the wrong (right?) member and find themselves the target of a massive class-action suit.
