Einstein Robot

Hanson has created the world's first walking, talking Einstein robot. Watch the video clip and read below for a short description. "The Albert Hubo is the first ever walking robot with humanlike expressions. Our Frubber material makes this possible, because it requires MUCH less force to move into facial expressions than do previous materials--less than 1/20th the force and energy than the softest animatronics materials, according to published tests. This means that the Albert head can run for hours on AA batteries, so it can be mobile and mount on a walking robot body." [Hanson]

Imagine the possibilities, they really need to create a better looking body though
5
As soon as he learns to sain more and become more autonomous, then he'll be REALLY cool. But, it's deffinately a nice start.
6
Dude!! way cool!! a very, very, very cool start1!!

This is stupid, why Einstein's head?
9
very very good . but it will be very dadgerouse in the end
10
um... they aren't speaking Japanese...
11
"This is stupid, why Einstein’s head?" oh gee i dunno, how about because he was the smartest person to have ever lived, in the top 3 anyway lol, so when they make a scientific/technological breakthrough, they are honouring a genius by making it in his image, use your brain next time before you post such stupid comments ;)

Im sorry, but thats crap, seen walking ages ago and the face is so random. so what its new rubber, make some new Condoms with the stuff or something usuful, instead of a freak like that from the movie AI. Einstein just became a special needs case...
13
Holy shit! God send us John Connor. I can't wait to open my door one day to one of these holding a machine gun.
14
load of s***
15
Scary to think in the 22nd Century none of us will be able to tell the difference between a regular human or robot walking down the street
16
Oh yeah, I saw this in Wired top 100 coolest bots. This was on the cover. Way weird, way cool.
17
Quote "This is stupid, why Einstein’s head?" I know. They should've done his ****.

They are Korean.

Ultimate geekiness, if only I were that smart
20
this is based on the body of the honda asimo.

It seems as this is a very small step on the long road to getting robots and bodys to look like those from Ghost in the Shell, but I believe that will be possilbe for humans to have cyborg or even full robot bodys with just a brain case with-in the next 100 years or so.
22
LOL - It's obviously an old man in a costume you gullible fools!!!!
23
Thats gangsta
24
i think its too dangerous. if i saw that robot on the street it looks so real i just might give it my wallet if he wowed me with his knowledge of science like he did in the video and then how would i get the bus!?

Fairly interesting. It's a long way from passing as human though. Does this mean that sometime inthe near future rich parents can buy their kids best friends? Think about it.. it would be the perfect solution for if your kids are total brats. You buy them a programable friend. Or maybe like.. programable nannies. "sorry kids, I have a business apoitment and can't make it to your play. It's allright though, ROBO NANNY will record the whole thing for me to see later. Good Luck!" Perhaps we can utilize this for military purposes. Wars fought with dolls rather then people, where life is not lost. True it might make war no worse then a game of football, but it might be a risk humanity is willing to take. >.> Just a thought. Peace. ~Mei
