We uncovered a great video compiliation of incredible Rube Goldberg-like (look below for a short description) machines from Japan. Clip after the jump.
From the article: Rube Goldberg drew his "Inventions" as contraptions that satirized the new technology and gadgets of the day. His drawings, using simple machines and household items already in use, were incredibly complex and wacky, but somehow (perhaps it was because Rube was a graduate engineer) the "Inventions" always had an ingenious, logical progression as they worked to finish their task.

Can anyone enlighten us about what the saying is at the end of all the segments? I'm sure we have some Japanese viewers on this web site.
8
Yes - that phrase gets bloody annoying after a while. I'd at least like to know what it means...
9
It says "I can't Get Any". Yeah, honestly you have this much spare time either you can't get any or you have alot of spare in your heads...meaning you need a life.

No Alex, i beleiev these little clips were played in the middle during some TV show in Japan, its like tiny intermissions, the "Catch Phases" were probably the name of the TV show. Whay would anyone do somelike this unless they were going to get payed for it? I wonder if this was the same guy who made that Honda Accord Euro commercial???

ah,This is a part of "PITAGORASUITCH"!,TV Program of Japanese broadcasting station. "Pythagoras"+"Switch" =Pythagoraswitch It has no mean ...or has slight mean ,maybe. Japanese enjoys this sound of the word. Don't think ,just feel ;)

Anyone know where that euro car commerial is? that was awesome! and so is this!
15
ben, i believe you are talking about the honda commercial. yeah, it's PITAGORA SUICHI, Pythagorus' Switch. This kind of segment is played inbetween educational skits on basically the Japanese-origin version of Sesame Street, played on the NHK, the Japanese PBS. I don't remember the show being called "Pitagora suichi," I think this describes this particular type of Rube Goldberg device, using mainly slopes and balls. But, then again, I never really watched that show excpet for these awesome segments. Maybe because of all the math?
