Created by Masaaki Nagumo, the "Land Walker" is a wearable robot suit -- think Mobile Suit Gundam -- that stands 3.4m high and weighs a hefty 907kg (1-ton) -- "can walk forward, backward or sideways at 1.5 kph by operating four pedals, and shoots sponge bullets from two air guns installed beside the cockpit." Available now in Japan, priced at a whopping $313,985USD. Video after the jump.

ugh...easy there mechwarrior...
things thing sounds just awful. does the $384K come with a jug of oil? That things squeeks and sounds like its gonna fall apart. And at 1 tonne, im not sure if this would be allowed anywhere. Looks neat, but completely ridiculous.

Wow, almost 350k for a rickety piece of crap. Its a glorified outhouse on legs, what person in their right mind would spend anything to buy one of these let alone develop it?

Shouldn't the real price be $627970 cuz really you would want two so they could fight each other.
But gods forbid, what would you do if one of them fell over?

Well consider this as version 1. They'll be WIKID in something like v10 or 15. I reckon they wont have actual wheels under the feet by then. they'll probably walk. AAhh this will be cool and scary!

it looks like a cheap APU (matrix) it sounds like a four wheeler is running in that thing.

hopefully the milatary with take this idea and make a real 1. that can run without wheels and that has real guns. Bet thats would solve the war in iraq. but this is still a good start to real mechs.

mm... im still convinced that the whole mech idea is somewhat pointless, sure they look cool. but would a thing like this actual have some use to it to make up for the price? i don't think so. also bipedal legs wouldn't be very great, it could fall over pretty easily, especially if it walked like we do. a thing like this that has wheels or tank treads would be your best bet. although this would be alot of fun to have at a paintball game.
