Laser Gatling Gun

German defense contractor Rheinmetall Defense Electronics has unveiled a new laser gatling gun that fires four 20 kilowatt simultaneously to produce a single 80 kilowatt super beam, capable of shooting down a drone at 500-meters. This beam can also be used to detonate ammunition, burn holes in smaller shops and explode artillery shells. Future upgrades include the ability to combine even more beams to give “unlimited” power. “The beam-forming unit provides diffraction-limited beam focusing, target imaging and fine tracking of the target. By using beam-superimposing technology, Rheinmetall has concentrated the power of single laser beams into one tiny spot,” said the company.
