Floating Park Pier 55 New York

New York City is set to get a floating park called “Pier 55” that will hover over the Hudson river off of the city’s Lower West Side and sitting on top of the deteriorated Pier 54. It will be supported by 300 pillars of varying heights and rise as much as 186 feet above the river’s surface. The park itself will contain three performance venues, as well as provide expansive views of the skyline. Continue reading for more pictures and information.

“Estimated to cost $130 million in total, $113 million would come from a donation by businessman Barry Diller and renowned fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg, representing the largest single donation to the city for a park project in its history,” says My Modern Met.
