This is what goes on behind the scenes during the "Get a Mac" commercials. "PC" has a personal message from Steve Jobs that he would like the world to hear. Watch after the jump.

This was an intro for last year's WWDC. It was up for awhile after that at Apple's site but then was removed.
Not ever meant to be a commercial, just a funny tip of the hat to Mac developers :)

What would Apple be talking about it there was no PCs?
I never thought its a good selling arguments to insult the very people you're trying to sell your products to. If 90% of computer users are using Windows, then Apple is saying 9 out of 10 people are idiots... all while trying to sell them their stuff?.
At first I thought I didn't get it, and then it hit me : Apple doesn't want PC/windows people as their customers (If MacOS would become the new Windows, Apple wouldn't have something to bash on anymore), this ad seems made for the minority of already Apple users who are thinking to switch.
...in the meantime, the number of Linux users is growing significantly more than the number of Mac users.
I guess people are not really interested about people who spend most of their times insulting other people.
Oh.. and fear doesn't really work either as a marketing vehicle, look at the RIAA sue'em'all campaing and how its "crushing" piracy :)

Actually, this is what Apple puts together for the intro to the WWDC 2006 (yes, a year ago) keynote.

Check out any 3 year old and they do the Apple ads every day. Ever notice how Apple never mentions its own products?
Johnnyg0 you hit the nail on the head. Apple simply wants to feed their current nasty juvenile customer base. That isn't intended as insulting to Mac users but there's no other way to look at it. Companies work very hard to craft ads that have a personality they're trying to appeal to.
You can see that companies occasionally miss but are on average on target. Apple is pretty consistent. Apple is trying to appeal to nasty petty people with nasty petty ads.
There's nothing funny about any of them. It would be like other computer companies doing ads like.
"Apple, first to do everything, except every product they've introduced."
Macs, 2% for a reason."
"Steve, remember when you introduced the first Mac with no useful software and it almost failed completely? You're welcome. -Bill G.-"
"Apple, copying since day one."
Except these would be true...

I think Mac is forgetting that Konfabulator (now Yahoo! Widget Engine) came before Dashboard...so who came up with widgets again? not Mac and not Microsoft.

What the hell is wrong with Apple? I used to like them in the past and always wanted to get a Mac to mess around with. I'll never buy anything from them because of these stupid ads and because of how they treat people. They are the new Sony.

For those of you who won't buy a Mac because of this ad... "who needs you? If you're too stupid to realise these ads are completely stupid then... ahh forget it."
To those who think Konfabulator invented widgets, think again. Apple had widget like systems in place at the release of the very first Mac. Of course if you actually knew about technology... oh wait, you're probably a PC user that's taking these ads personally. :-)

Oh yeah and Ellison17 do a bit more research.
Word and Excel were Mac products that Microsoft bought then PORTED to Windows. Microsoft never developed the software they just progressed it.
Oh and Microsoft never developed DOS either, they just sold it. Wait, Windows was pinched from MacOS.
Sorry man, your argument is so full of holes it's no wonder you're taking this fake ad personally. Your platform isn't just full of holes, it's built upon lies.

Wookie, what argument? Why so angry? It's just a joke. Don't you have a sense of humor? Isn't that what you Mac deluded say when you puke lies all over everyone? Of course none of what I wrote was a lie even you could only nitpick at it and include DOS which I didn't even mention. But you did that because you're dreaming that you're in a holy war against MS. LOL.
I notice you didn't dispute that the first Mac was useless without other people's software. Or anything else I wrote. You can't of course. Because Apple stole pretty much every idea for every product they've ever made.
You Apple deluded are heeelarious. My favorite is still, "Mac 2% for a reason"

"Word and Excel were Mac products that Microsoft bought then PORTED to Windows."
Oh and Wookie, How does that make what I wrote a lie? I pointed out that they were done by MS which agreed to. LOL
So you're probably one of those people who whine that MS Word came from Xerox PARC but like Jobs are in denial about everything from the Mac coming from the same place.
