TechEBlog Review: Insignia HD Shelf System with iPod Dock (Video)

Insignia's latest shelf component system is no slouch. The NS-HD2114 can be your mini entertainment hub, with DVD, CD, HD radio, and even iPod support. Don't have an iPod? Just plug any USB-compatible digital audio player into its front panel USB port. Put simply, it caters to both audiophiles and gadgetholics alike. Product page. Features

For a component system that measures 8.9 x 18.5 x 10.6 in., the Insignia NS-HD2114 not only acts as a stereo unit, but supports progressive-scan output for maximum DVD picture quality when connected to a display. A built-in HD radio tuner enables you to access additional content at no extra cost, ever. With dual 2-way speakers, 1-inch tweeter, and 4-inch woofer, these speakers sound as good as they look. Most 2-speaker systems less than perfect, but this 75W really works: producing a sound that just fills the room. Plus, its iPod docking station is conveniently located up top.

Bottom Line

The casual music enthusiast who likes rich sound in a small package will appreciate the excellent audio from the Insignia NS-HD2114. Factor in the built-in HD tuner, along with progressive-scan video output and you've got yourself quite the system.
