The Inflating Flashbag

Designed by Dima Komissarov, the Flashbag is a USB storage device that inflates as it "fills up with data". Currently, the technology is patent pending. No word yet on if the Flashbag will go into produciton. [via Gizmodo]

It makes sense because it "fills up" as you put more data on it. It's a gimmick, but it might also be useful if you want to see roughly how much free space you have at a glance, without plugging it in.

I think its cool. It adds a new dimension to the boring old USB sticks. Its a nice piece of product design. Not everything has to adhere to pure function. Although a chocolate teapot is going a bit far

Norm, wouldn't it be better to have a small LCD display on the outside to show how much storage is being used or left (possibly with a click of a button to show the difference)?

Who couldn't like an oddity like that. I don't think I'd buy one but I like the idea of someone being able to find financing to produce something like that.
