Well the Xbox Controller should be replaced with the Xbox 360 controller xD
2
This list has a few problems. For one, all of Sony's controllers owe their roots to the SNES controller. We have no idea how the Wiimote will actually run games yet. It sounds cool, but it could flop. Oh, the NES controller is awesome though. Without the NES, video games would not be in existence. Damn I love that system!
3
Wii should be number 3 and sony duel shock shall be 1038902137812479023
4
wtf, no those are in a terrible order, omfg you couldn't have messed up more
5
Well, the XBox controller shouldn't even be up there... There was nothing really original about it besides that fact that the buttons are somewhat shiny... Compare the Gamecube controller, which was original when it came out, and the XBox controller. Every other controller up there has a unique feature. And the Wiimote should have been much higher in the rankings... There is no controller out there like it. Sure, the Playstation 3 controller will have a gyroscope as well, but it still will look virtually the same. With the Wiimote, there are so many possibilities. It may revolutionize the gaming industry.
6
uhh someone's running out of ideas for lists. this is a lame ass one
7
This is so ridiculous. Come on techeblog, you dropped the ball huge on this one.
8
i dont understand how they can think that the sony dualshock controller is better than the wiimote. once they use the wiimote hopefully they will reconsider that.
9
well this is pointless
10
1. SNES 2. Wiimote 3. Dual Shock 2 Way, way down the list: Xbox, Gamecube, N64. Worst ever: Jaguar 17-button monstrosity.
11
Well, i fhtink this list is pretty much pointless without a quick rundows of why each controller was chosen. Without that its just a seemingly random list of controllers. Having said that, i find it interesting that the Wiimote is only #4... i would have put it at number 1 :)
12
the Wii suppose to be second-_-....How can Xbox controller be better than it??? This is wrong.
13
How could an article be so horrifically wrong, the dreamcast and xbox controllers should not be ranking at all. And mouse and keyboard is only good for controlling your spreadsheets which I'm sure you all spend a lot of time doing.
14
how can they judge the Wiimote if you cant use it yet? this list is pretty gay. Also, why isnt the Jaguar on here? that was one of the coolest controllers ever
15
The XBox controller is only notable in that it is HUGE. Those things are laid out HORRIBLY! The black/silver buttons farthest to the bottom are possibly the most awkward buttons ever put on a controller. Also, dreamcast sucks. Also, the N64 controller belonged in the place of the PlayStation controller... What innovations does the PS controller have? Two analog sticks? Surprise, N64 controller. Multiple shoulder buttons? Surprise, SNES/N64 controller.
16
First of all the Xbox Contoller-S has every right to be on the list. It's one of the most comfortable controllers(regardless of the black and white buttons) ever released. The DualShock 1 deserves the spot more than the the DualShock 2 simply for changing the way games would be forever played on home consoles. The Dreamcast controller was utter crap. It has only ONE analog stick and ONE D-pad on ONE side which can and does ruin most games today (reversing the configuration doesn't count). The Wavebird is one of the best wireless game pads ever released after the 360 controller. Mouse and keyboard should not even be recognized as a controller. Any "controller" that's main purpose is too enable a user to work with hardware, internet, accessories, and solitare before anything else is obviously not designed to be a proper game controller. Has any one ever attempted to play a sports game on a computer? Hell, the TV remote might as well be included if they're just gonna throw the mouse and keyboard on there. Oh, could they show the Gameboy some love please?
17
I agree with what most other people seem to be saying - the list is crap! How can the NES & SNES pads be in the list? It doesn't matter how much love you feel for them, consoles have evolved in the last 20 years! Imagine if someone released a rectangular pad these days! And the zapper - there have been better light guns released since that. The best pads IMO are (in no particular order): Wavebird Xbox Controller S Dual Shock Dreamcast joystick Zipstick for the Amiga Basically anything BUT the N64 one.
18
ok, i really dont have a problem with this artical, except for the #1 to be the nes controller. That hurts. And i think the xbox360 controller should be on there, It feels like holdind butter. Wii controller idea is so dumb. I think that should be 11, right next to the gun.
19
All of Nintendo's controllers should've been on top of that list, they might not be as evolved as the newer ones from other companies, but people should remember they we're the first controllers of their types. And for that sole reason they should be ranked all on top. NES - first Control Pad SNES - first non-thumbs top buttons (L+R) N64 - first analog stick Wiimote - first "globally working" freespace controller (previous attemps never were that good) All the other controllers just copied Nintendo's concepts.
20
Holy crap the Wiimote should NOT be on the list! It sucks! Who wants to play with a remote control? And also, why is NES #1? That should belong to the 360 controller.
21
chillz chillz mediocre at best uru kai chilllzz..
22
This is lame -- there aren't even explanations. What is with TechEBlog's NES controller fetish anyway?

Heres my list. With explenations! ;-) 10. N64: I thought it was great for playing FPS's because you hold it like a trigger (think about the middle part), and when I was seven years old, it was just such a fun controler to use. 9. Zapper: Loved it so much...duck hunt competitions when I was two years old with my cousins...so much fun...such great memories of cursing when I managed to get a win...only problem: not enough games 8. Dreamcast: loading those cartridges into the controler was pretty different...and it was always pretty easy to just grab one and start playing...only problem: it was a little big...(might have been 'cus i was in the second grade) 7. Keyboard and Mouse: It was always easy with the WASD and Left-Click...but well, when you were flying a plane or driving, you can't act like you're in it like you can with a controler (love that even though its really stupid ;-D) 6. Dual-Shock [1&2]: They were the same controler...so yeah... had built-in rumble...two joysticks...both never had enough resistance though... and when I played FPS's with it, always overshot my targets...my preferance 5. Wavebird: Such a reliable wireless...just loved it...not too heavy and battery life wasn't as short as my attention span...(hey wait...is that a squirrel on my lawn?) 4.Controler S: Great button placement. nice resitance on the joystick, not too big, not too small, and my favorite part: the triggers...for fps's and really any game you threw, or shot, I felt like I was alot more into the game...just because it kinda is shaped like a trigger unlike all other controlers other than the N64 controler... 3.Arcade Joystick and Button(s): So simple...so easy..(almost) unbeatable... 2.Wiimote: Yeah, from E3, we know it'll work...may I say three hour lines? And yeah you can turn it sideways and use it as a controler dumbasses...such great and easy usage...hell my dad could figure this out... 1.NES: So simple...so fun...such great memories...such bad (but) worth it hand-cramps...now way to beat it... Easy. Fun. Great.

errrr the xbox controller is complete crap! too many buttons and it looks like an effin croissant!

Most of the people that have posted here must not read what they type before submitting, because I see some very ignorant posts. I'm going to correct most of you since I'm bored and I feel you people need it. 1 - The Dual Shock controller did not revolutionize how games are played, N64 had rumble before Sony did. (Not a Fanboy of Nintendo, just stating a fact) 2 - The Wiimote does not "suck', mainly because its something that you have to use before you can make a valid critique on how it functions and if it "sucks" or not. 3 - Mouse and keyboard IS considered a game controller, based on all of the gaming keyboard/mouse setups you can buy. The best experience in FPS shooter games is using the mouse to aim.(As far as the controller setup goes) 4 - The Wiimote should NOT be any higher on the list, seeing as its not released yet and is confirmed to still be undergoing changes. In my opinion, the Wiimote should not be on the list at all. Sure its a great IDEA and could be an amazing way to expand the gaming experience...but its not out yet so we can't confirm this. Also, I do believe that the Dual Shock controller should be that high on the list. Sure, it wasn't a completely original idea, but it was a VERY nice setup that made games fun and easy to play. The dreamcast controller...shouldn't be on the list. There has to be another controller that was better than that. It was like the original X-box controller, just it didn't have as many functions. Overall, the list had alot of controllers in the position they deserve, but other need to be rethought on where they stand.
