Top 5 Most Creative Uses for the Mac Mini

5. Mac Mini PVR Setup

This PVR setup features a Mac Mini Core Duo, Westinghouse LVM-42w2 1080p monitor, 300GB HDD in fanless enclosure, Miglia TVMini HD OTA HDTV tuner, and a Peerless ST650P Universal Tilt Wall Mount. One more image after the jump. [via TUAW]

4. Mobile Mac Mini

James Mullins built "M3", a Mobile Mac Mini bot that comes with "a touchscreen lcd mounted in the rear; up front it’s equipped with video halogen lights and IR range sensors." Video recording/halogen lights demonstration after the jump. Lots more pictures here.
In the end it was decided that the Mac Mini should sit in top of the robot so that the DVD slot and IR sensor was visible from above the chassis. This meant that we could drive the robot with the supplied Apple remote

3. Mac Prius

This modder connected a Mac Mini to his Prius MFD touchscreen for the ultimate multimedia setup.
Of course nothing goes perfectly and I'm going to have to pull the mini out later. I need to check the audio connection, I'm now occationally hearing a loud squeel when I turn up the volume on the Prius. I think it's probably the the little connector I made with the electrolitic cap. I attached to make sure no stray voltages enter the Mac, it's kind of squished in the back of the Mini now

2. Mac Mini Portable MkIII

Created by Peter Green, this UMPC-like device is actually a portable Mac Mini that sports an Intel Core Solo 1.5Ghz processor, 60GB HDD, and 512MB RAM.
The MMP MkIII is the LIGHTEST Macintosh portable ever made at just 1.9Kg including batteries. This 'UMPC' has a 3 hour battery life, integrated 8" touch screen tablet with hand writing recognition supported by 'Ink, full Blue Tooth, Airport, full SPDIF audio in/out and Front Row capabilities, on screen touch keyboard - no hardware keyboard required

1. DeLorean Mac Mini Setup

Ryan Brandy created this custom Mac Mini setup in his DeLorean, complete with sound system, iSight on dashboard, and a projector center. Video clip after the jump.
I have always wanted to put a Macintosh-based computer into my DeLorean. Today, you can read about how I made that a reality. This project involved more than just a carputer. This is the merging of an automotive environment and a computing environment. This creates a portable office in your DeLorean. Not just a drive-in movie theater, but a drivable drive-in movie theater

how hard is it to configure a tv so the mac mini will work on it properly and have good resolution?

@ nate, I believe that he used dvi-d out to the hdmi, otherwise, why would he mention that it's a 1080p?

I don't know, he might go crazy with the whole idea of a portable computing device being invented by someone earlier than he has.
