5. Nose Stretcher

Just clip this on your nose for a couple minutes per week and it will start stretching the cartilage to a desired size. It's available now from Rakuten for just $6.94 USD.

The nose stretcher is not for stretching the nose, but for making the lower part of the nose narrower in order to give it a more "western look". The cat`s paw is a sort of novelty-joke item for scratching the back. The other uses were just thrown in for laughs. For many years there had been a club in Tokyo named (loose translation) The Useless Invention Society. Their stated goal is to invent truly functional items that people would never buy. I mention this group because, from time to time, you will see one or more of their items submitted to some website under the mistaken idea that the Japanese really do use these items. Just like any other country, including the US, Japan has its share of ineffectual lunatic gadgets put on the market for airheads that will believe anything. Anyway, check it out! http://smt.blogs.com/mari_diary/2006/02/unuseless_japan.html
