(Video) Apple iPhone

"Kingrizz" and Engadget give us a first look at the Apple iPhone -- demonstration includes making a call and searching through contacts. Watch after the jump.
...iPhone is first party software ONLY -- i.e. not a smartphone by conventional terms, being that a smartphone is a platform device that allows software to be installed. That means hungry power-users -- you know, those people ready and willing to plunk down $600 for an 8GB musicphone -- won't be able to extend the functionality of their phone any more than Apple (but thankfully not Cingular) dictates

yes i realize that theres no cussing on this board, but if you have seen Steve Jobs latest keynote.... Un-fu$-#ing-be-liev-able I mean this technology is 10 years ahead of its time. There is no doubt: This phone WILL revolutionize the cell phone industry.

Yeah i saw the keynote earlier and was blown away i'd get that phone in a heartbeat if i wasn't so destructive towards my phones, that and the fact its $499 well actually i don't have a mp3 player and the phones features are awesome, years YEARS ahead of any smartphones today i think a weekend job's calling me, that or a night job after school i already have like 300-450 from xmas, so idk and i was thinking, if you used your fingers would it smudge? if so then could u use a stylus anyways?

dave, good post, from what i can tell, its going to be finger only. I mean they set up that technology to know a finger, like a baby knows his mothers breast. Its probably pressure and shape sensitive. people keep mentiong the 500 bucks, but the way i see it, u could sell your phone, palm, camera, and ipod for one Super-device.

10 years ahead of its time, yet it can't have "unauthorized" software installed, nor play "unauthorized" movies (I can guess some people will find a warranty voiding way to do it thought). Microsoft crippled the Zune with their 3x3 law, Apple is crippling their iPhone with this "party software ONLY" crap. Who said you can sell shit to people, as long as it looks good? I guess I'll stick with Palms and PPC, which I can install what I want (long live MoePaint and BhajisLoops!), and I'll wait for them to offer multi touch screens.

its not that impressive only 4gb and 8gb. how aboot use a phone and ducktape and ipod 2 it. its worked for me so far.

oh my god...its an effing phone...how come nobody is complaining about its crazy ass 600$ price tag...for a effing cell?! yet, you're all probably the same people who complained about a 600$ gaming system that is so much more high tech than some suped up cell...this world is messed up.

Look David, 10 may be a bit much, but this phone is AT LEAST 5 years ahead of current technology. 1) It works all 3 programs at once with almost 0 slowdown. You ever try to use a Treo or Blackberry for music and take a call OR use the internet and take a call. Ive used dozens of smart phones, and you start using 2 or more functions of the phone and the whole thing crashes. 2) Touch Screen Technology that actually works. I mean its accurate and smart finger recognition. Using a stylus is SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS. Yeah the Cingular 3125 and a couple others have what they call "touch screen" but its total crap 3) It plays full screen gorgeous movies with 160 pixels per square inch! Thats like having a mini plasma tv in your hand. Have you ever played movies on other smart phones, it looks like crap 4)An actuall internet browser that works almost as fast as the one in any other PC or Laptop. If you've ever used internet on smartphones, you'll know how remarkable that is 5)The phone will be updated every few months with better software from Apple and Cingular, instead of being hung out to dry like pretty much every other phones software 6) proximity sensor, light sensor, tilt sensor. 7) it auto switches between wifi and edge internet. 8) The entire device is seamless, simple, and beautiful. The best smart phones and pilots dont compare As far as the "No 3rd party media" thing, they said the same thing about the ipod. As long as u have the converter i am sure you'll be able to put any media you want on it. 500 is not that bad considering how much this one device actually does. Jobs even said, "I would sell it for 100$ if I could"
