sorry but that looks far to dangerous to me. first of all your trapping alot of heat in a small plastic and glass box. im sure the glass is not designed to withstand such heat, and i cant see the box standing up to the heat for very long. very dangerous. secondly im certain that having toxic plastic fumes engulfing your food is not good for your health. theres no way i would have eaten those pancakes after having plastic fumes all over them as well as in the area around me. thats not to say this cant be done better. a nice wooden base covered in sheet metal and opensides would last longer, wouldnt emit toxic fumes, and would allow the excess heat to dissapate. then go to your local glass shop, and get a heat resistant peice of pyrex cut to your custom size. it will cost less than £15, and will be worth it for not only the safty, but also the faster heating surface = faster food.
