This is reportedly just a temporary check that was issued upon opening Apple’s first bank account, imprinted with the company’s first official address at ‘770 Welch Rd., Ste. 154, Palo Alto.
Check ‘No. 2’ actually precedes the official founding of Apple Computer, Inc., as the official founding date came thirteen days later, on April 1, 1976, when co-founders Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne would signed the partnership agreement. This famous agreement assigned 45% of the company to Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, with 10% going to Ronald Wayne. Why did both Jobs and Wozniak sign this check? There was reportedly a clause that required any expenditure over $100 to be approved by two of the partners. More information here.
