Check ‘No. 2’ actually precedes the official founding of Apple Computer, Inc., as the official founding date came thirteen days later, on April 1, 1976, when co-founders Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne would signed the partnership agreement. This famous agreement assigned 45% of the company to Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, with 10% going to Ronald Wayne. Why did both Jobs and Wozniak sign this check? There was reportedly a clause that required any expenditure over $100 to be approved by two of the partners. More information here.

Between the exceptionally early date of this check, the payee as a PCB maker, and the fact that it is signed by the two figures that drove Apple’s initial success, this is an extraordinary, museum-quality piece of tech history,” said RR Auction.
