Apple-1 Computer Prototype Steve Jobs Demonstration Auction
A one-of-a-kind Apple-1 Computer prototype used by Steve Jobs himself for demonstrations back in 1976 just sold for $677,196 USD at auction. The ‘Apple Computer A’ printed circuit board was hand-soldered by Steve Wozniak and shown to Paul Terrell, owner of The Byte Shop, which resulted in an order of 50-units, thus changing computing history forever.

This famous computer was safely stowed away in the ‘Apple Garage’ for 30-years before being gifted by Steve Jobs to its current owner. Since funds were tight in the early days of Apple, this board was repurposed several times, resulting in its not so perfect state with several ICs missing. Hopefully, this will one day be displayed in an Apple or computer history museum for all to see. If you’re interested in more prototypes, check out the Ultra Electronics mind-controlled drone.

The board appears to have been damaged by pressure on the upper right, resulting in a crack that runs from adjacent to the power supply area above D12 down through the bottom of the board to the right of A15. The missing piece is presumed to have been discarded, but can be reimagined thanks to Paul Terrell’s photographs of the complete board,” said RR Auction.
