On July 26, 1994, Hitachi introduced the HT-2807/C Clean ATM. This innovative automatic telling machine was the world’s first model that actually cleaned banknotes during transactions. That’s right, the notes were heated to 200° C for sterilization, and then were ironed out flat to get rid of any folds or wrinkles.
