
We have seen the future of batteries, and they’re mostly 3D printed solid-state batteries by startup Sakuu. These batteries would be equal or exceed the performance of current lithium-ion batteries, all wrapped in a small, 3 ampere-hour (Ah) cell, which enables them to deposit multiple materials onto a thin, single layer.
Sakuu utilizes a novel method of additive manufacturing, whereby proprietary technology enables printing of glass, metals, polymer, and ceramic onto a single layer, along with proprietary cell chemistry. The company is positioned to deploy at-scale manufacturing of next-generation solid-state batteries, which is widely considered one of the biggest challenges faced by developers of this technology.
