Asiana Airlines Open Emergency Exit Door Mid-Flight
An Asiana Airlines passenger somehow managed to open an emergency exit door mid-flight as the Airbus A321 was traveling from Jeju Island to Daegu, South Korea. Fortunately, the plane landed safely with 200 people aboard without any serious injuries. The suspect has not yet revealed the reason for opening the door, although it has been confirmed that he or she was not intoxicated.

This is normally a 1-hour flight between the two cities and the incident occurred as the aircraft approached Daegu airport at an altitude of 700 feet. The passengers included teenage athletes set to take part in a track and field competition this weekend. A total of twelve people were taken to a local hospital for treatment due to breathing problems and other minor issues. One a somewhat related note, opening a door mid-flight probably wouldn’t be possible aboard a Supersonic Boom Overture aircraft.

It was chaos with people close to the door appearing to faint one by one and flight attendants calling out for doctors on board through broadcasting. I thought the plane was blowing up,” said one passenger.
