While probably not as durable as the Unitree G1, the 1X NEO Beta humanoid robot is the first we’ve seen that was designed specially to help around the home. The company just released a video showing how the robot would be safe to work among people.
NEO stands 5.5-feet-tall, weighs 66 pounds, and can lift up to 154-pounds. As for speed, it’s capable of carrying a payload of up to 44 pounds while running at a brisk 7.5 mph. Once the beta phase is completed, 1X states that NEO can be produced at scale in the company’s factory in Moss, Norway. Ultimately, 1X aims to create an abundant supply of physical labor through safe, intelligent humanoids that work alongside people, whether it be a small convenience store or a large factory.

Our priority is safety. Safety is the cornerstone that allows us to confidently introduce NEO Beta into homes, where it will gather essential feedback and demonstrate its capabilities in real-world settings. This year, we are deploying a limited number of NEO units in selected homes for research and development purposes. Doing so means we are taking another step toward achieving our mission,” said Bernt Børnich, CEO at 1X.
