There are dual E-ink tablets, and then the Onyx BOOX Note Max, an ultra-slim 13.3″ Android ePaper notebook. Priced at around $650 USD, it features a 2.8 GHz octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage, all the while offering a “tablet-like” user interface.
What sets the 4.6mm thick BOOX Note Max apart from a basic E-ink reader is its E Ink Carta 1300 screen with 300 pixels per inch and support for Onyx BOOX “Super Refresh” technology. The latter lets users select whether to prioritize image quality or higher-motion graphics for smoother scrolling. It runs an Android 13-based operating system, with support for input from a pressure-sensitive digital pen or a magnetic keyboard. There’s no word yet on when pre-orders will go live.
