Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Reveal
Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 8 series crashed the party at the 2025 Galaxy Unpacked event yesterday, and it’s gunning straight for Apple’s smartwatch throne. With a sleek new look, a pile of health-focused goodies, and Google’s Gemini AI woven into Wear OS 6, this lineup—featuring the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Watch Ultra—blends style and smarts like nobody’s business.

The series boasts a squircle-shaped design, a style borrowed from last year’s Galaxy Watch Ultra and now standard across the board. It’s 11% slimmer than before, thanks to a 30% smarter component setup, making it feel like a feather on your wrist. The new Dynamic Lug system hugs your wrist just right, whether you’re catching Zs or crushing a sweaty workout. The Watch 8 comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes, with a Super AMOLED display—1.34 inches at 438×438 resolution for the smaller one, 1.47 inches at 480×480 for the bigger. The Watch 8 Classic (46mm) and Ultra (47mm) stick with the larger screen, all shielded by tough sapphire crystal. Colors pop with Graphite and Silver for the base model, Black and White for the Classic, and the Ultra throws in a bold Titanium Blue alongside Titanium Silver, Gray, and White.

Health tracking is where Samsung goes all out, ready to outshine the Apple Watch 10. The Galaxy Watch 8 series rolls out Bedtime Guidance, which reads your body’s sleep clock to nudge you toward better shut-eye, and Vascular Load monitoring to check your heart’s stress levels when you’re chilling. A new Antioxidant Index zaps your skin to measure carotenoid levels in five seconds flat, giving you a peek at your diet’s health. The BioActive sensor, teamed up with temperature, accelerometer, barometer, gyro, geomagnetic, and light sensors, drives these features, with the Classic tossing in a 3D Hall sensor for extra precision. “We’re all about whole-body wellness,” Samsung says. High Stress Alerts, a Mindfulness Tracker, and an Energy Score keep your physical and mental health in check, while fitness fans will love the built-in Running Coach and AI-powered workout prompts—like kicking off a 300-calorie circuit with a quick voice command.

Powering this crew is the Exynos W1000, a 3nm chip that Samsung swears is lightning-fast. The Watch 8 packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the Classic and Ultra up the ante with 64GB, perfect for stashing tunes, apps, or maps. Battery life’s got range: the 40mm Watch 8 has a 325mAh battery, the 44mm bumps to 435mAh, and the Ultra’s 590mAh beast lasts 48 to 100 hours. All support 10W wireless charging and boast IP68 and 10ATM water resistance, with the Ultra adding MIL-STD-810H toughness for rugged adventures. Wear OS 6, layered with Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch, serves up a clean interface with Multi-Info Tiles for quick peeks at health stats, weather, or your schedule, plus a Now Bar widget for stuff like timers or workouts. Gemini AI lets you navigate, text, or control workouts hands-free, and Samsung’s calling it a total game-changer.

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic brings back the fan-favorite rotating bezel, a satisfying clicky way to zip through menus, and adds a Quick Button for instant workout modes or SOS calls. The Ultra, the fancy-pants option, goes hard on durability with a titanium case and an Extreme Sport bracelet, though you’ll need to grab extra bands separately to switch up your look. Prices kick off at $349 for the Watch 8 (Bluetooth), $499 for the Classic, and $649 for the Ultra (LTE), with pre-orders open from July 9 and sales starting July 25 in places like the US, Australia and Colombia.
