Boxabl, the company making a name for itself in modular housing, has just released its latest creation: the Baby Box. This 120-square-foot home on wheels, priced at $19,999, is a complete living space that’s as practical as it is portable. After years of producing the 361-square-foot Casita, Boxabl has distilled its approach into something smaller, simpler and ready to roll.
Measuring 11 x 11 feet, the Baby Box feels like a puzzle box that unfolds into a fully functional home. It arrives folded, towed by a pickup truck and sets up in about an hour with no special tools required. The interior has a kitchen with a mini fridge, countertop oven and cooktop; a bathroom with a shower, toilet and vanity; a living area with a pull-out couch bed; and a closet with sliding doors for storage. Every inch is calculated so it feels like a studio apartment you can park anywhere.

What’s impressive is how Boxabl has prioritized ease. Built to RV Standard NFPA 1192, the Baby Box sidesteps the red tape of traditional home permits. No foundation or extensive site prep is required – just a flat spot to park it. Hook it up to power with an extension cord and water with a garden hose and you’re good to go. For off-grid, it has water tanks, waste tanks and a battery. A mini-split AC system keeps it cool and color-changing LED lights let you change the mood from cozy to vibrant with a flick.

Galiano Tiramani, Boxabl’s co-founder, calls it a solution for anyone who needs a home, workspace or temporary shelter. The company sees it fitting into disaster relief or workforce housing where speed and affordability matter most. At under $20,000 to start (with an eventual price of $30,000) the Baby Box undercuts many traditional housing options. Financing options (with payments of $199-$399 a month) make it even more accessible for buyers who qualify.

A virtual tour with Boxabl’s founders shows just how spacious it is. The shower in the bathroom has a skylight and feels modern. The kitchenette may be small but it covers the basics for daily meals. The convertible couch bed makes the most of the living area and doubles as a place to relax or sleep. Paolo Tiramani, the CEO, calls it a sci-fi teleportation chamber and while that’s a bit of an exaggeration, it does feel futuristic in its efficiency. It’s the kind of space that makes you wonder how much space you really need.

Production is still in the early stages, with Boxabl focusing on larger orders of 50 units or more for now. Single buyers can join the waitlist and deliveries will start in late 2025. The company’s 3 Nevada factories are gearing up to produce these, building on our experience with the Casita and larger modular projects. Price and features may change as the Baby Box goes from prototype to production but Boxabl is committed to keeping it affordable.
