The U.S. Marine Corps partnered with BAE Systems to build the ACV 1.1, a high-tech amphibious combat vehicle. This 8×8 amphibious platform can carry 13 embarked Marines, plus a crew of three, and boasts a special ‘H-Drive’ System to provide full time all-wheel traction both on land and in the surf zone.
It’s powered by a 690hp engine, good over a range of more than 325 miles on land before needing to refuel, and it can travel at speeds in excess of 65 miles per hour. Now this is a vehicle that would not look out of place in a Halo movie, as it not only packs the fire power, but also the armor needed to withstand blasts.
