Amazon Prime Air isn’t a super early April Fools’ Joke, but a real service the company will be offering, beginning in 2015, after FAA aproval. Gizmag reports that Amazon Prime Air would ship orders under five pounds once workers pack them into small plastic containers. They’ll then be scooped up by Amazon’s custom-built “octocopter”, and delivered to customers within a 10 mile (16 km) radius of Amazon’s fulfillment centers within 30-minutes. Here’s what’s currently holding it back from going live next year: “The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently working on rules and regulations for unmanned aerial vehicles, a process which Amazon hopes will be completed sooner rather than later. ‘We hope the FAA’s rules will be in place as early as sometime in 2015. We will be ready at that time.'”
