Unlike the original Game Boy, the Analogue Pocket Aluminum limited editions are CNC machined entirely from aluminum, buttons included. Not just an emulation device, this handheld can play actual Game Boy cartridges as well as other carts (Game Gear, Atari Lynx, etc.) using various adapters.

This device boasts Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), which are essentially chips with an array of programmable logic gates. It allows the Analogue Pocket to replicate a Game Boy CPU/APU/PPU at a physical level, thus reproducing logic as opposed to using its own hardware to emulate it. In other words, software configures the FPGA chip, which then handles the emulation, also known as hardware emulation. You can order them starting on July 15th at 8am PDT, with shipments beginning on July 17th.
