The material, enriched with luminous particles, can be applied to just about any pavement surface, absorbs light during the day to create the effect you see above. Inhabitat reports that, “The amount of light that the material produces depends on the amount of sunlight it absorbs during the day. Clients can choose between different colors, aggregate sizes, and application bases. Pro-Teq founder Hamish Scott sees STARPATH as an excellent way for city councils to earn carbon credits, manage their budgets, and reduce overall environmental impact. The Cambridge site will act as a model for neighborhoods around the globe looking to install a decorative and practical alternative to outdoor lighting.”
