What really stands out is a part called the ‘holographic combiner’ involving point to point holograms where one projection point interacts with multiple holograms to project light onto multiple eye box points. In one configuration, the holographic combiner and light engine are arranged to separately project light fields with different fields of view and resolution that optimize performance, while another includes foveal projectors for projecting wider diameter beams over a smaller central field of view. The headset is expected to hit Apple Stores worldwide in 2024, priced at $3,500 USD.
