Apple Computer sent out a bulletin last month to all its service partners, notifying them of counterfeit iPods that are being sold as authentic. These illegally manufactured players — most notably the iPod Nano/Shuffle — lack a dock connector, ship without the standard USB cable, have missing buttons and “Digital Music Player” printed atop the packaging. More pics after the jump.

The imitation players, which often sport nonstandard headphone jacks and lack a dock connector, are sometimes stamped with a valid Apple serial number, Apple told its service providers.
