Apple Watch Ultra 3 arrived last year as the big titanium sports watch in the lineup, and a year later stores are clearing remaining stock around $699.97, roughly $100 under the original $799 starting price. That gap is the main reason the watch still makes sense in late 2026. Newer Ultra models exist, yet this one keeps the same 49mm case, the same flat sapphire face, and most of the tools that made the line useful for long days outside.
The casing is made of grade 5 titanium and comes in either a natural or black finish. The total weight is approximately 61.6 grams. A raised lip around the crystal prevents the glass from being scratched on tables and rocks, which is a wonderful addition. The screen borders have been reduced by a quarter since the preceding Ultra, allowing the always-on LTPO3 OLED display to cover more of the face without the need for a larger case. The display itself can reach 3000 nits of brightness, and the wide-angle pixels remain visible even when you tilt your wrist away from a direct view. When nite falls, Nite mode dims the map and compass faces so you can still view them while out on the route. The orange action button on the left side allows you to set up a personalized shortcut, and the siren is loud enough to be heard across open sea or a parking lot.

The battery life claims are 42 hours in normal use and 72 hours in Low Power Mode, up from 36 hours for the previous model. A 15-minute charge may provide about 12 hours of average use, and an 80% full will take about 45 minutes. Dual-frequency GPS uses both L1 and L5 frequencies to keep track even in dense woodland or city blocks, making it significantly more accurate than a single-band watch. Apple said it was the most accurate GPS in a sports watch at launch. When you combine it with 5G on cellular models, you have a fairly solid configuration.
The watch is IP6X rated for dust resistance, and the case has undergone MIL-STD-810H testing for enhanced durability in case it gets soiled on the trail. The device has an S10 chip and 64GB of storage, allowing it to run the most recent watchOS. So you get the usual suspects: heart rate, ECG, blood oxygen, wrist temperature, sleep stages, a sleep score, and, just in case, notifications for hypertension and sleep apnea. When you just have one hand, you can still use a double tap and a wrist flick to control everything.
