Capturing the perfect low-light image is perfect for even the best of photographers, but thanks to artificial intelligence, the task has become much simpler. Researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Intel managed to train an AI neural network to do low-light image processing and produce results that are far cleaner than traditional high-ISO photos. The system was then trained with pairs to learn how to recreate a long-exposure equivalent using a short-exposure RAW photo, to produce photos with much less noise.
