ASUS has been making graphics cards for three decades and to celebrate this milestone they’ve released the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 5090 30th Anniversary Limited Edition. Limited to 1,000 units it’s a rare gem for enthusiasts who want raw power and a card that demands attention.
Built on NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture, the RTX 5090 has 21,760 CUDA cores and 32GB of GDDR7 memory on a 512-bit bus. That’s a beast for 4K gaming and creative workloads. ASUS takes it further with a factory overclock hitting 2,730 MHz in 800W mode. That’s 10% more than the standard RTX 5090’s 575-600W power draw.

NZXT H5 Flow 2024 - Compact ATX Mid-Tower PC Gaming Case - High Airflow - 2 x 120mm Fans Included - 360mm...
- EXCEPTIONAL GPU COOLING-The PSU shroud is perforated on the side and bottom, enabling optimal air intake from two 120mm fans (not included).
- LARGE RADIATOR SUPPORT-Supports up to a 360mm radiator in front and a 240mm radiator up top for powerful liquid cooling potential.
- HIGH-PERFORMANCE AIRFLOW-Ultra-fine mesh on the top, front, and side panels creates maximum airflow and filters dust.
The card has dual power inputs: a 12V-2×6 connector and ASUS’s proprietary GC-HPWR (BTF) connector. When paired with a compatible BTF motherboard these inputs unlock the full 800W potential, a feature for overclockers who want to squeeze every last bit of performance out of their rig. The 3 oz copper PCB layers help with heat dissipation and reduce voltage drops so it’s stable during long sessions.

It’s a 3.8 slot card measuring 357.6 x 149.3 x 76 mm. Four Axial-tech fans—three on the front, one on the back—work in a push-pull configuration to maximize airflow. A patented vapor chamber and liquid metal thermal interface material keep temperatures in check while densely packed heatsink fins increase surface area by 10% compared to ASUS’s ROG Astral series. It stays cool under pressure even when pushing 800W.

ASUS goes all in on their Republic of Gamers heritage with a red and black color scheme and a full aluminum body. The design is inspired by the 2008 EN9800GT Matrix with a rounded shroud end that gives it a unique silhouette. A translucent panel with “infinity mirror” lighting makes it a showstopper in any build.

The card supports PCIe 5.0 for super fast transfer and two HDMI 2.1b and three DisplayPort 2.1b ports for up to 7680 x 4320. ASUS’s GPU Tweak III makes overclocking easy with one-click OC Mode for beginners and a VF Tuner for advanced users to fine tune the boost curve. The package includes a graphics card holder, ROG magnet and a PCB ruler for enthusiasts who like to mod and customize their setup.

Performance is where this card shines. The Blackwell architecture has 5th gen Tensor Cores with FP4 support and DLSS 4, so AI driven frame generation that quadruples smoothness in supported games. 4th gen ray-tracing cores handle complex geometry, so lifelike lighting and shadows. NVIDIA Reflex 2 with Frame Warp for minimal latency for competitive gamers. For creative work, the card excels with NVIDIA Studio tools for video editing, 3D rendering and AI workflows.
While ASUS hasn’t announced pricing yet, estimates are above $2,500, more than the already expensive RTX 5090. The limited run of 1,000 units makes it a collector’s item, will sell out fast or appear in giveaways like ASUS’s Gamescom event. You’ll also need a powerful power supply – ASUS recommends 1,000W for fully overclocked systems – and a BTF motherboard to unlock the 800W mode. For most, a standard RTX 5090 or the ROG Astral series will do, but this card is for those who want the best of the best.
