Atlanta Falcons Spot Robot Dog Security Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot dog has been upgraded to open closed doors, and now, at least one of them is an employee of the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Called ‘Benzie’, the robot is being used to assist security personnel in completing dull, mundane and dangerous tasks, directed by a driver from Asylon Robotics.

During games, the 85-pound robot has sensors that disable it from coming within 2-inches of another object, while at night, Benzie patrols the grounds every 30-minutes. When not patrolling, it walks back to a special dog house, or charging station if you will. The Atlanta Falcons are set to open the 2023 NFL season at home against the Carolina Panthers on September 10th.

Innovation is one of our core values. We are always proud to be the first to look at new technologies… This dog is the latest and biggest thing to enhance what we’re doing. Prior to the drone dog, in-house 24/7 security was performing these checks. Now, the dog never gets tired, doesn’t take breaks, and we still have a human element of responding to issues. This is just an enhancement to the whole process,” said Greg Overstreet, Senior Director of Security at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
