YouTuber Nick Zetta thought it was outrageous to pay $3,500 for an Apple Vision Pro, so he built his own…sort of. Simply put, it consists of a monitor, camera, and a Windows 11 PC, all strapped onto a makeshift helmet of sorts.
This build did not go smoothly, as Zetta initially tried strapping everything onto a headband, but the hardware proved to be too heavy. So, all of that hardware was then put onto a helmet, but the next issue was recreating the Apple Vision Pro’s passthrough feature. This required basically live streaming what the camera was filming on the monitor in front of him. Let’s just say that everything worked out in the end, although most certainly not even close to the functionality of Apple’s spatial computing device.
