2K Games knows there would be demand for an Unreal Engine 5-powered BioShock remake, but there are no plans yet for such a game. Thankfully, Gearshift Media created their version of a BioShock themed environment built in Unreal Engine 5 using Megascans, custom models, and Marketplace Assets.
It has been nearly 17-years since the original BioShock was released on Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360, powered by Unreal Engine 2.5. Gamers claim that it’s a spiritual successor to the System Shock series, incorporating ideas by 20th century dystopian and utopian thinkers such as Ayn Rand, George Orwell, as well as Aldous Huxley. The game features role-playing elements that give the player different approaches in engaging enemies such as by stealth, along with moral choices of saving or killing characters.
