Earlier today, two explosions occurred near the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon, killing at least two people and leaving 64 injured. According to race organizers, the blasts sounded exactly like bombs. NBC News reports that marathon officials believe a “small homemade bomb” might’ve been the cause of one of the explosions. According to Reuters and Boston.com: “The NYPD is deploying counter-terrorism vehicles around landmarks and hotels. In Boston, the Lenox Hotel was reported evacuated, and the Mandarin Hotel was reported as the possible site of an explosive device. The police have found ‘secondary devices’ that are still unexploded, urging anyone in the area to leave.”
